25. Sucker Punch

What the Internet Thinks: 4.7/10

A generally unheard of film yet still regarded as a cult classic, Sucker Punch was torn to shreds by critics but praised by the general viewer at a 7.4/10. I may have a bias, as I found the theme, outfit design (no, not for that reason), environmental set design, underlying plot and shots very appealing and "me". Not to mention after reading some of these Rotten Tomatoes reviews, a guy gave the film 1.5/5 stars because he "didn't get to see the hot girls dance" and that "these girls hardly get hit or take a fair beating"; so do with that as you will.

Sucker Punch is a dark film, the bulk of the film takes place through the perspective of our protagonist, Babydoll, as she is thrown into a mental asylum and is pending an unethical brain surgery. Over the span of the film, we watch as her reality and fantasy intertwine into coherence as she plans a prison break with four other girls.

24. The Edge of Tomorrow

This rating is determined by an average of the Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, Metacritic, and Google ratings

What the Internet Thinks: 8.1/10

Mission Impossible is an understatement for The Edge of Tomorrow. A fun and high tempo sci-fi groundhog day sort of film, The Edge of Tomorrow shoots a satisfying time-loop story about a war between humans and aliens. These aliens have the brutally unfair advantage of being able to see into the future before their wars, with the tide turning when our protagonist receives the gift himself; progressively forming the ultimate plan of attack to win the war.

This one is just a very satisfying watch and a little brutal in some moments, but remains a witty game of cat and mouse between species that I never get tired of watching.

23. The Matrix

This one definitely needs no introduction but I'll do it anyway. The Matrix is definitely an edgy sci-fi (technically post apocalyptic vibe) depiction of the simulation hypothesis. Classic early 2000's (yes I know it was released in '99) action/combat scenes, "cool quips", fun sci-fi reality warping moments; the film screams iconic. We join protagonist, Neo, living his relatable dull 9-5 life. As the film progresses, he is guided out of an ambush by a seemingly omnipotent voice over the phone. Once the two meet, Neo is offered the choice to blissfully indulge in the ignorance of his simulated existence or explore his potential and learn how much he is really capable of.

22. The Truman Show

What the Internet Thinks: 8.8/10

Such a convincing film that even a mental diagnosis was named after itThe Truman Show is without a doubt a one of a kind film that plays on the suspicion that we are secretly being viewed by an audience. The premise: a man grown from birth in a world that literally revolved around him. Truman never questions his cinematic life, but our film takes place during the time of his adulthood when things are slowly failing to add up. It is a film about realisation, questioning, our needs, and exploration into the unknown. It's one of those films you wont forget and will be brought up in conversations for years to come.

21. Léon The Professional

This rating is determined by an average of the Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, Metacritic, and Google ratings

What the Internet Thinks: 7.8/10

A charming 1995 French film, Léon The Professional is your typical badass hitman movie where the tough hitman reveals a soft spot for someone and it impacts their career. My main take away from this film was definitely the introduction of our protagonist, can't be described with anything less than badass and very satisfyingly shows off the fear a superhuman killing machine should incite in their enemies. Really worth the fun watch.
